People with type 2 diabetes who received intensive treatment to keep their blood pressure levels at 130/80 mm/Hg or below experienced fewer heart attacks, strokes and other diabetes complications.More intensive blood pressure treatment also reduced overall death from any cause, regardless of baseline measures of cardiovascular risk and blood pressure.Study findings may help reconcile conflicting guidelines for blood pressure management in people with type 2 diabetes.
